So very sad to know that Dorothy is gone. While growing up, I visited Dorothy and Russell's home often and greatly enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere that was always present and created by Dorothy, Russell and daughters Vickie and Linda and son Bobby. Wonderful people. My mother Betty also greatly enjoyed her friendship with Dorothy and Russell as well. Life won't be the same without fun-loving and sociable Dorothy, the Queen of the Neighborhood.

When Curt and I moved into the neighborhood 16 years ago we had no idea that we would have such wonderful friends in Russ and Dorothy. Curt helped Russ and Dorothy with alot of home repairs and the only payment he would take would be one of her great pies.

We shared many dinners together and good times. Even our dogs became pretty good friends. Dorothy's Babe was a great mole hunter and every time she caught one she would

We are all deeply saddened by the news of Aunt Dorothy's passing. She was indeed a shining light with a contagious smile and a sometimes disquieting wit. She was truly blessed with a large loving family, life long friends and a life well lived. And so the tree of life livers on. We will miss you.

My dear sister,
My sister, my friend, I have known you all of my life and can't believe you're gone. I will love and miss

Our thoughts and prayers to your family. Just watched the touching tribute video and it was most moving. She was blessed to have a wonderful extended family.

After talking with Linda Newkirk Blanchard this morning, I will be posting some photos I have from our South Dakota trip.

I read my sister's post after posting my memory and was amazing at how similar are posts/memorial to Dorothy are.

She impacted so many lives......In addition to our families memories, I also loved going to the Newkirk home when Dorothy hosted all of the Kelloggsville young men for "poker night"..........

What an awesome woman!!

There are too many memories I have with Dorothy. She was so full of life, love, and laughter. She treated me as her own child and ciunseled me when I was upset with my parents. We traveled to South Dakota by car too see Linda and her family. It was a soecial, memorable trip. She was an amazing woman and great friend to our family.....well, she was family. I will miss her but will always have those wonderful memories. My sincere condolences to Vickie, Linda, Bob and all of the grandchildren.

Our family will always cherish having Dorothy Mae Newkirk as our family friend, and really as close as you can get to one of our own family. Our parents/families lived next door to one another and the path between our homes was as essential as the path to our lives. She was one of a kind--decent, caring, as was her down-to-earth sensibility. Sometimes we (my sister and I) would go to Dorothy for advice if we disagreed with our own
