LINDSAY – Mr. Joseph Lindsay, age 94, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

Joe was a life long resident of Grand Rapids and was very familiar with its history and geography. He attended Catholic Central High School, and was an excellent basketball player. He also actively participated in tennis. He served in the United States Army and Army Air Corp during World War II. Joe was employed as a bartender at Silver Derby Tavern for many years. He loved jazz and Big Bands music and collected recordings, even creating his own music mix, along with making custom tapes for his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his sister-in-law, Sally Lindsay, and niece, Ann Lindsay. He is also survived by his dear friends, Andy, Marilyn and family, Larry and Gayle, Joan, Dwight and family, Bob and Marian, Rose, the Dara family, and their staff at Villa Pizza. Joe was preceded in death by sisters, Helen, Irene, Ruth; brother, Jack; and nephew, John.

A Memorial Graveside service for Mr. Lindsay will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Wyoming at a later date.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Rd., Kalamazoo MI 49048 or a charity of one's choice.
