Mr. Warren C. Mates, Sr., aged 93, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl E. Mates; parents, Charles and Nellie; children, Gloria J. Lamkin, Warren "Butch" C. Mates Jr.

Surviving are his daughters, Jeanna Smith and Mitzie A. Mates; grandchildren, Michael (Susie) Mates, Laurie (Tom) Matt, Matthew (Chelsea) Mates, Joshua Mates, Lyndsay Mates; 2 great grandchildren, Lacie, Mary Beth Mates; close longtime family friend, Jane Osborn; and his devoted caregiver, Kathy Orozco.

Warren proudly served his country with the US Army during WWII receiving the Purple Heart. Warren was a longtime member of the Masons. He retired from Dohler Jarvis after 30 years and afterwards went on to own a successful business, Mates Die Cast Supplies and Services, for 27 years.

Graveside Services with Military Honors for Warren and Remembrance of Pearl's life will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 1:00 PM Thursday, October 10. Memorial contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice.
